I recently got a Prodigi Connect with the distance camera and it has changed my life. I work as a teaching assistant in a secondary school but could no longer support in class as I was unable to access the whiteboard due to my loss of vision. Now with the Prodigi Connect I can now support in class again. Not only has it helped me to achieve my dreams of supporting in class again but it has helped me access paperwork without going home with a bad back, I can now access everything sitting in an upright position instead of bent over all day. The people at Humanware were easy to talk to and explained all the functions in clear simple steps. I highly recommend this product.
I'm still trying this however the distance camera has allowed me to view a presentation for the first time in my working career without having to request printed copies. I'd have liked to see the distance view incorporated into the main prodigy software rather than using Sony Play Memories so that the sma efunctionality can be quickly accessed e.g. OCR contract change zomm and panning. At present a still needs to be taken before you back out, go to gallery and transfer the image to prodigy and then view it. doing this live would probably result in you missing 5 slides. I consider this however to be a niggle. I also found using a small tripod mounted on our conference table better than the supplied clip mount.
Reading under the tablet would easy and relaxing it sits well on a table or depending on your sight on your lap even in it's frame. The tablet itself is good. I'd have liked an IOS version as I find apples own accessibility functionality easier to use but I'm still getting used to Android.
Overall this is well thought out, very portable and has a great battery life. as you get a standard tablet as well it also means having a device that can take care of email etc rather than having to carry a separate tablet or laptop
Well done humanware - on the next update I'd love to see the distance option using the same layout as the magnifier.
I am always researching new technology for my teenage son to make his life easier. I came across the Prodigi Connect on Pinterest of all places. My husband and I borrowed the money for this piece of technology for our son a few months ago. My sons life has changed drastically since he got his hands on it. Before he had to push a large cart from classroom to classroom with a huge CCTV, a laptop and keyboard along with his personal iPad for extra assistance. Now he carries a backpack with this piece of equipment in it. My son can now leave class with his friends which has given him more opportunity for a social life instead of missing the end of one class or the begging of another class because he had to leave earlier than everyone else to manage getting through the hallways with the cart. His independence has hugely improved along with his confidence. I am thankful for this technology and humanware for putting it on the market. Thank You!
